Finally some time to write

Well, it been way too long since my last post. I've been busy taking in the city and meeting some pretty interesting people along the way.

So, last Saturday I went to the season opener of the Real Madrid season. What a game! Having bought a VIP ticket, I was really able to see the players up close and watch the game from the midfield line. Fabulous! I got to sit with some season ticket holders. I had two young guys on my left who I got to know pretty well, especially after hugging and cheering with them after all three Real Madrid goals. These were great guys who lived the game. Die-hard fans who knew everything about the team. It was a privilege to sit with them. Now, to my left I had a pretty surly guy in his 60's who loved to hate the team. I'm sure you all know a guy like this. He loves the team but is always insulting the players and is always pessimistic about everything that happens on the field. To my surprise, he even found a way to find something wrong with the team's play even when they scored. Just imagine, you've got me and these two other guys jumping on each other each time there's a goal or near miss and this old man mumbling under his breath with a stern look on his face all game long. It was priceless. He must have hated us by the end of the game. Here are some pics of the star-studded event.

As you can see, it was a blast. There are many other pics and videos but, as always, they don't capture the full experience of actually being there. Recommendation: When in Spain, go watch a game. You won't be disappointed.

The most recent news. Carolyn will be coming to visit! I'm excited to show her some of my favorite cafés and bars around the city. She'll be staying from September 25-28. I can't wait to see her again!

Well, I'm off to a café/bar/bookstore (only in Madrid can you mix the 3). I'll let you know how it goes. It's supposed to be a pretty fun place to hang out. Hasta pronto...
